The Flying Rooster is an Artist Development Company set up by international music
Industry veteran Theo Roos and is based in Amsterdam, Europe, New York, USA and Tel Aviv, Israel
The Flying Rooster advises and represents Artists in all business and creative aspects
including Career Planning, Music Publishing, Recording, Bookings, Concerts, Audio and Visual
Products, Merchandising, Sponsoring, Synchronizations, Licensing and
generally Artist Management.
Theo Roos has 45-years experience in the global music and media industries.
He was CEO/President of Universal Music Netherlands and
Senior V.P. Universal Music International overseeing a number of Universal
companies on the European continent. During his 14 years at Universal Music
he signed artists like
Andrea Bocelli, Andre Rieu, Ilse de Lange, Noa, Laura Fygi, BZN and Dulce
Pontes and worked on the careers of artists like U2, Sting, Elton John and many others.
In the 70’s Theo was joint Managing Director at EMI Holland and was
initiator of the international successes for Dutch Artists like The Cats, George
Baker Selection, Pussycat, Focus and Kayak.
During the 80’s Theo founded his own company The Flying Dutchman which
was Europe’s premiere independent marketing and promotion company working
closely with acts like Phil Collins, Stevie Nicks, Genesis, Shalamar, PhD, INXS. During this time he organized
the acclaimed annual International Music & Media conferences both in Montreux, Switzerland and Amsterdam,
The Netherlands. Simultaneously he was founder of radio trade publication Music &
Media which later was sold to Billboard/BPI after which Theo became a full
partner in Billboard’s parent company BPI for which he built their
international business. The partners sold their company in 1992 to VNU/Nielsen, after which Theo joined Polygram
International (later named Universal Music) as CEO.
He is presently managing anna RF, a Middle Eastern desert dance act breaking in many countries.
He is also Chairman of the Board of the bi-annual International Jewish Music Festival which will again take
place in Amsterdam from May 4-8, 2017
